Tow-truck owner ID’d in fatal

The 7th tow truck operator to be killed while on duty happened yesterday. RIP Jesus Salcedo of J & S Towing in CA.

The owner of a towing company was killed while trying to help a stranded motorist in Colton.

Jesus Salcedo, 56, of Colton, owner of J & S Towing, was killed Friday around 5 p.m. while trying to tow a disabled vehicle from the shoulder of westbound Interstate 10, according to a San Bernardino County coroner’s press release.

Salcedo was at the La Cadena Drive on-ramp when he was struck and killed by a westbound Nissan Titan SUV. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the accident.

The westbound freeway was closed for a time, triggering a SigAlert that was cancelled about three hours later.
