Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get more people to post here? And how to gain more members? We are open to ANY ideas that you may have as we want TowInfo to grow to be THE place on the internet for the towing professionals!!!
Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
Well as for me and locally we are very busy and some days get slammed.. then its time to sleep for a few hours and do it again. Could be just busy.
But you could pay for posts, don't have to be much....many of us work for next to nothing anyway......lol!!!

Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
Harold, how about a room called "just the basics" ? A place where the inexperienced lurker or new kid on the block could go to get pointers. Seems that on other places and sites, if a guy or gal asks a general knowledge question they get mocked or persecuted for even bringing it up.
Stuff like ....Steps to take on a simple call with a ld wrecker. Walk around inspection, hook ups, drag lites ect. get it?
There are bunch of folks that do not know everything there is to know about towing.

How about recovery of the week. Or maybe month. Have everyone vote for there choice. 1 vote per company. As a prize have the vendors maybe give a free gift or discount in a purchase. Has got to be a new recovery and maybe have different points structure. 1 for rigging 1 for equipment. The less equipment used the higher the score. The better you rig the higher the score. Lets say you got a tractor trailer loaded and you use 3 rotators. If someone else does it with 3 30 ton integrated then the smaller trucks have my vote.
Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
How about "controversy"? How about politics? How about teaching each other the truth about recoveries? How about teaching each other that the police don't rule the day and you have a right to solicit business anywhere you like on FEDERAL interstates? How about teaching that what we do is not that hard thus in lies the pay? How about teaching what we do is specialized and dangerous and therefore demands higher pay? How about teaching you no more have to be green or even have to have any gdamn thing that is in order to operate nor should you have to pay any green people in order to know how!! How about teaching people to ask their boss how to operate the truck instead of a sheriff or a DOT official telling them to take a class? How about telling them why metermaid or freelance advocates that they must!!! I would say because a green deal advertises on their web site!! How about it?

No problem here eating stuff from the "Valley of the Jolly Green Giant" , using stuff from the Green people, or accepting "Green" for my work. I do agree that we do not need government dictating to us who we use or where we get our stuff, but maybe there is a need for a way to insure that operators working our public streets are qualified to be there. It could just maybe be one of us or our families that gets hurt due to someone else not knowing their job, or being able to do a proper hook-up.

Police, Fireman, EMT's, Doctors, Electricians, Linemen and many, many other occupations are properly trained and certified to do their jobs. Not only to do there jobs but to do them safely and properly in a manner that will not cause harm to innocent people in and around their workspace.
I don't know about anyone else but I feel much more comfortable with a properly trained surgeon doing my surgery than some guy that saw it on TV one time and says, "That's easy, I can do that for ya'!"
Proper training and certification is the way to go if you want to be a true professional.
Who would hire an attorney that hasn't been to college nor had any formal training or certification to defend them in court? NOT ME!

Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
I think Leo hit on a point that may hinder some people from posting more. Inserting photos. Some of us don't have a problem with it but others have difficulty and it is a little complicated.
If we had space to host images and could simplify the process it may encourage more people to post.

Politics would really get the blood boiling and the keyboards humming. Or you could unban charli he seems to do the job!
Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
Charli just received a LIFETIME Ban! End of that discussion!
Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?

Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
As far as the posting of pictures, in order for us to "host" them here it would add quite an expense in order to pay for the room to keep them. The free 3rd party hosts like photobucket fit out budget better at this point?
Either way it would basically be the same process, select a picture, upload, click a link to copy a location and paste into the post.
And if i can get back to Florida, I am definitely in on the racing the mini-mods Leo!

Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
maybe a room for "kids of towing" a room to show off the youngsters of towing. They are our future. I know a guy here that has a son that is 7 and is all bout his daddy's wrecker and this guy is always talking bout his son helping on jobs(hes a owner/op). We could call it ""Tots of towing"" I do agree bout maybe the contest idea. Not cash or nothing but like a deal on stuff from one of our venders here.

I've tried to get vendors on here to even participate... even to advertise their stuff for FREE unlike other boards and places... still not getting them on here much... any ideas???
Had a "Future tower room" never got used, would bring it back IF it would get used...
ANY other ideas????
Re: Anyone have any ideas on getting more people posting?
How about you?
This question is to the people that have never posted a topic or replied to a topic.
Now forgive me on this. I "surf" many towing sites. I see the same names on many of the same sites I go to. There are over a thousand people on this one. I think...it would be good to some how encourage the tower who doesn't respond to a topic or post to simply "enter" a topic or start one. A topic of towing, without emabarressment or strong criticism. Unless it was purposely posted to get MY dander up. lol. And direct it to towers who have, say, less than 10 posts or replies. Just like in the election coming , one person one vote....one tower, one opinion. Present it.
You have heard, don't worry about asking a dumb question. That is basically what I'm trying to present here. EX. What size tire for my dollies?,,,What's the best color for my truck? Does this new sling make my butt look big? Why don't I post?,, Things that some of us don't think of.
Then to, it could be some of the towers here are just too busy to post. Well I took up enough time. I believe every tower here has a voice on something, and I personnaly would like to hear it.
